My name is Brian Abbott and I have been actively involved in Photography for more years than I can remember, but have only really branched out since I retired from work.
In the early days, my photography was mainly through using a Ricoh KR10 35mm SLR camera which I bought to record family life when the children were very young.
Sadly, the Ricoh needed replacing after 20years use and I was then persuaded to invest in a Nikon 35mm replacement camera - a decision I have never regretted.
The model I chose was the Nikon FE2 which produced such outstanding results that I subsequently bought two of them. In one, I always had black & white film and in the other colour film.
I also bought a medium format Bronica SQA camera, but it was the two Nikons' that I more often used.
Once digital cameras had reached an acceptable quality of output, I bought a small Pentax Compact camera to test the water. This had its limitations for the type of photography I was usually involved with, and so I continued using the two Nikon FE2's.
The Pentax compact digital was just kept in my pocket on the occasions I didn't take the 35mm SLR's out with me. After the Nikon D2H DSLR was released, I wanted one, but the initial price was beyond my reach and so I couldn't buy one until shortly before they introduced an updated model. From that point on, I was really into Digital Photography in a big way and the poor old film cameras haven't been out hardly since.
The digital photography bug had really bitten, and a while later I decided to buy an Epson R2400 colour printer, and for the first time, I was now able to produce my own quality prints up to A3+ size and have not looked back since. Whilst Public Transport Photography is my specialist subject, other areas I also cover are landscape and travel.
